Our History

The business conducted by Hardware Warehouse was established in 1996 in King Williams Town. Its vision was to provide the rural communities of the Eastern Cape with affordable building materials on a cash basis. The first warehouse-style operation quickly expanded to three other stores and from this base the company opened one to two further stores per year in the towns of Alice, Butterworth, Mdantsane, Ngcobo, Mthatha, Cofimvaba, Lusikisiki, Queenstown and Mtubatuba in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The company has opened two further stores in Mpumalanga, those being Hazyview and Bushbuckridge. The first being in Nelspruit, which opened in March 2009.
